Abstract: 

In an electricity grid, imbalance between generation and load need be corrected within seconds so that frequency deviations will not threaten the stability and security. This is especially important for a low inertia microgrid operated in islanded mode, which is equipped with a limited number of synchronous generators in regulating frequency. To this end, for data center microgrid with limited on-site generators and increased green energy, when isolated from the utility grid, frequency deviation due to generation-load imbalance could be potentially corrected by conventional generating units as well as data center loads. Focusing on high PV penetrated data center microgrid operated in islanded mode, this paper explores effective control strategies for data center loads to participate in primary frequency response. By analyzing unique operational characteristics of traditional and PV generation units, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, and power consumption characteristics of IT components and cooling systems, the proposed load control strategy design effectively utilizes primary FR capabilities while not compromising data center quality of service (QoS) requirements. Numerical simulations via MATLAB/Simulink illustrate effectiveness of the proposed load control strategy in enhancing renewable energy penetration without compromising the system stability and security, providing a viable solution for future green data centers.

Abstract: 

The neoclassical growth model is tested by use of panel data procedure in this research. In the econometric test, simoultanously time series and cross detection will be compared on the basis of panel data method through which their observed points increase and consequently the estimation efficiency will be increased. The examination of neoclassical growth theory has been done with reference to external & internal factors of 52 selected countries from 1960 to 2000. The independent variable of model has been selected on the basis of the result of previous research which explains the result in three separate models: developed countries, developing countries, and whole countries. These factors are such as: Gross National Products with lag of period, work force age, growth rate, education level, the change of capital accumulation and economic trade volum. The consequences of this research is that: neoclassical growth model can explain the major part of economic growth of the countries with use of internal variables. Also with the use of panel procedure of fixed effect, we can see the fundamental differences and structure of the growth process for different countries; and show how the economic, and social conditions affect on the growth.

Abstract: 

THE AVAILABILITY OF DEPENDABLE PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE IS ESSENTIAL TO THE EXISTENCE OF BIG data. IN FACT, WITHOUT THE ACCESSIBILITY OF A ROBUST PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE, BIG data PROBABLY COULDN’T EMERGE AS MUCH. IN ORDER TO SUPPORT SUCH A HUGE VOLUME OF data, A PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE FOR “BIG” data MUST BE “BIG” ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE ASSOCIATED REQUESTS. THIS MEANS SATISFYING BOTH THE QUANTITY AND THE QUALITY ASPECTS OF data HANDLING. BY QUANTITY WE REFER TO THE SUBSTANTIAL FIGURE OF THE COMPUTATIONAL NODES, AND BY QUALITY WE REFER TO THEIR HIGH PERFORMANCE. REDUNDANCY IS A KEY FACTOR TO IMPROVE SERVICE AVAILABILITY IN BIG data. ON THE OTHER HAND, LOW LATENCY IS A CRUCIAL NECESSITY OF BIG data. THESE REQUIREMENTS TOGETHER, GREATLY CONTRIBUTE TO THE ENERGY CONSUMPTIONS OF INFRASTRUCTURE THAT SUPPORT BIG data. IN THIS PAPER, WE BRIEFLY REVIEW SOME ENERGY ATTRIBUTES, AS WELL AS SOME CONSERVATION TECHNIQUES THAT ARE EFFECTIVE AND CAN ALLEVIATE THE ENERGY UTILIZATION OF BIG data INFRASTRUCTURE. WE MAINLY FOCUS ON THE STUDY OF data center AS IT IS THE PIVOT COMPONENT IN THE BIG data ECOSYSTEM.

Abstract: 

بررسی ها نشان میدهد در طی سال های اخیر استفاده از سامانه ی آبیاری بارانی دوار مرکزی جهت بالا بردن میزان راندمان آبیاری در مزارع روند رو به رشدی داشته است. هدف اصلی افزایش یکنواختی پخش به همراه کاهش تلفات و نیز تامین نیاز آبی گیاه می باشد که در برخی مناطق طراحی، اجرا و یا مدیریت نادرست موجب عدم دستیابی به این اهداف گشته است. در این بررسی به ارزیابی سامانه ی آبیاری دوار مرکزی در شهرستان آق قلا استان گلستان در سطح 20 هکتار پرداخته شد. مقادیر یکنواختی پخش (DU)، ضریب یکنواختی (CU) و راندمان پتانسیل کاربرد آب در ربع پایین (PELQ) به ترتیب 70، 79 و 61 درصد بدست آمدند که دو پارامتر اول نسبتا در حد قابل قبول قرار داشتند ولی پارامتر PELQ برای یک سامانه ی آبیاری بارانی در حد مناسبی نبود. مهمترین مشکل این سامانه ناشی از مدیریت، بهره برداری و نگهداری ضعیف، استفاده نادرست و اصولی از پمپ و رشد زیاد جلبک در لوله مکش پمپ و استخر بوده که به نحوی موجب ایجاد نقص در سازوکار سامانه و کاهش عمر مفید پمپ ها گردیده است.

Abstract: 

Todays gamma knife radiosurgery is used widely for treatment of very small brain tumors. In order to investigate accuracy of dosimetry and treatment planning calculations, using Monte Carlo simulation with dedicated code named as beamnrc including non-CT data and CT data options is necessary. The aim of this study is choosing the best options in order to have an accurate tools based on their advantages and disadvantages. In this study, gamma knife unit 4C along with standard water equivalent phantom and EBT3 films were used to obtain dose distributions. Monte Carlo simulation was done with non-CT data and CT data options of the code and their resulting dose were compared. Comparison the calculated and measured dose distributions at X, Y and Z axis showed gamma value below 1 which verified Monte Carlo simulations. Also comparing the dose distributions from both non-CT data and CT data with each other implies that there is no significant difference between two methods. Based on the obtained results using non-CT data and CT data results in the same dose distribution. So for simplicity, using non CT data for regular phantom shapes is preferred.

Abstract: 

In this paper, a new high step-up current-fed LLC resonant DC-DC converter with a center-tapped transformer is proposed. By selecting the switching frequency to be lower than, but near to, the series resonant frequency of the LLC resonant tank, soft-switching operation of all semiconductors, i.e., zero voltage switching (ZVS) turn-on of power MOSFETs and zero current switching (ZCS) turn-off of diodes is achieved. This leads to lower electromagnetic interference (EMI) and lower switching losses and improves the converter efficiency. An interleaved structure is used at the primary side. Thus, input current ripple is smaller, and its frequency is twice the switching frequency. Consequently, a smaller input filter is necessary in practice. The converter with 1.2 kW output power and 760 V regulated output voltage with 80-200 V input voltage variations is simulated. The output voltage is regulated by using asymmetric pulse width modulation (APWM) at 200 kHz switching frequency. Finally, a 700-W prototype has been implemented and experimental results are also presented to verify the simulation results.

Abstract: 

This paper focuses on the effect of heterogeneous cache hierarchy in data center processors in the dark silicon era. For extreme-scale high performance computing systems, system-wide power consumption has been identified as one of the key constraints. As energy consumption becomes a key issue for operation and maintenance of cloud data centers, cloud computing providers are becoming significantly concerned. Emerging non-volatile memory technologies are favorable replacement for conventional memory. Here, we employ a nonvolatile memory called spin-transfer torque random access memory (STT-RAM) as an on-chip L2 cache to obtain lower energy compared to conventional L2 caches, like SRAM. High density, fast read access, near-zero leakage power and non-volatility make STT-RAM a significant technology for on-chip memories. In order to decrease memory energy consumption, it is required to address both the leakage and dynamic energy. Previous studies have mainly studied specific schemes based on common applications and do not provide a thorough analysis of emerging scale-out applications with multiple design options. Here, we discuss different outlooks consisting of performance and energy efficiency in cloud processors by running CloudSuite benchmarks as one of scale-out workloads. Experiment results on the CloudSuite benchmarks show that using STT-RAM memory compare to SRAM memory as last level cache, consumes less energy in L2 cache, around 59% at maximum.

Abstract: 

In this paper, the authors have focused on the stochastic analysis of an internet data center (IDC), which consists of a database main server connected to a redundant server. Observing the different possibilities of functioning of the system, analysis has been done to evaluate the various reliability characteristics of the system. The system can completely fail due to failure of redundant server before repair of database server, router failure and switch failure. The system can also fail completely due to a cooling failure or some natural calamity like earthquake, fire; etc. All the failure rates are assumed constant while the repairs follow two types of distributions namely general and Gumbel-Hougaard family copula.
